Support System

Facing the prospect of a cancer diagnosis can be daunting. As a partner with the local American Cancer Society chapter, Cheyenne Regional provides many resources to patients and families, including support groups, wigs and prostheses. Our medical professionals are comprised of a radiation therapy team and clinical nurses specializing in cancer treatment.

Cheyenne Regional Medical Center is the first hospital in Wyoming to offer a Breast Health Navigator, an oncology registered nurse who guides and supports breast cancer patients throughout the treatment and recovery process.

Patients find that the navigator helps to reduce the anxiety experienced during cancer treatment. The nurse can accompany patients to consultations, appointments and follow-ups, even after treatment. This program is free to patients and can also provide information to families.

Detecting Cancer

There are various procedures that help to detect cancer early, such as:

• Genetic testing and counseling
• MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
• Digital Mammography
• A 64-slice CT scanner that gives faster scanning times to help facilitate diagnosis
