CRMC Facts & Statistics

W. Joseph Horam, MD - Teen Health

Q: What are the most important health issues for my teenager?

A: Adolescence is more than the ages of 13-19 years, and many health issues are unique to this age group.

Physical considerations include puberty, musculoskeletal disorders, acne, immunizations, sports exams, and acute illness.

These are just a few things adolescents and their parents must deal with.
Emotional considerations include sexual development, behavioral disorders, depression, eating disorders, and tobacco, alcohol and drugs.

Parents and adolescents must adapt to one another during this transition of increasing responsibility and independence.

Every adolescent should have a medical “home” that provides an understanding of his/her health concerns.

W. Joseph Horam, MD, is board certified in pediatrics.

Dr. Horam is in private practice and is one of many physicians living and practicing medicine full-time in Cheyenne.
