Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Volunteers

The Cheyenne Regional Volunteers would like to extend a warm invitation to any adult (over 18) or student (ages 16-18) community member to join us as we meet, greet, and serve our hospital guests on a daily basis. We offer a variety of opportunities to “give back” to our community by working closely with Cheyenne Regional Medical Center staff members to provide the best care anywhere!

If you prefer a routine week-day schedule:
  • Waiting Room Host positions – help ensure patients’ families are comfortable
  • Information Desk – give directions and provide escorts to various areas of our hospital
  • Staffing the Gift Shops – Pink Boutique Gift Shop and Lemon Tree Gift Shop (East Building)
  • Guest Check-in Receptionist at Home Away From Home (you can commit to weekly or bi-weekly schedules)
  • Therapy Dog handlers who visit our East Campus
  • Baking Cookies with the Past-Presidents - raise funds for our Laramie County Community College Endowed Scholarship Plan
  • Nourishment Cart and Library/DVD check-out carts - visit patient rooms during the week, and are a welcome site to our patients.

For those that prefer an occasional project:
  • Various clerical requests from around the facility including working in our own “Historian’s Room” updating the organization’s scrapbooks.

Seasonal projects:
  • Breakfast with Santa – preparing for more than 200 children and their families to spend a Saturday morning in December with Santa
  • Holiday Gift Wrap – wrap gifts at Frontier Mall beginning the day after Thanksgiving until Christmas Eve
  • Laramie County Health and Wellness Expo – every spring
  • Gardening duties – Cheyenne Regional Volunteers keep the hospital courtyard beautiful throughout the growing season by providing many green thumbs

From the privacy of your own home:
  • Pediatric Pillow project - we also make pillows for Orthopedic patients
  • Providing purchased cookies for our Waiting Rooms
  • Calling Committee - help keep the membership informed of upcoming events
  • Tray Favors – created for the patient’s meal trays, each tray favor is relevant to an upcoming holiday and would be available for the more “crafty” oriented volunteers.

The funds raised from our Gift Shops, Home Away From Home room donations, Holiday Gift Wrap and various other fund raisers allows us to make a financial contribution back to the hospital each year for a designated annual project. We are just completing a two-year $200,000 pledge to the Davis Hospice Center. Since our inception we have contributed in excess of $1.46 million back to the hospital for equipment purchases or special projects.

The only dues we ask of you are to donate 25 active hours per fiscal year to our organization. We use a touch screen check-in computer monitor which will allow you to check your hours whenever you wish. We also recognize your efforts annually in May at our Pink Geranium Luncheon where you are awarded pins for attaining certain levels of hours donated to our organization.

Whatever your interest level and availability, we can find a project or two for you to assist with. We have both week-day, and week-end availability with multiple shifts to choose from.

Please, won’t you join us? Call today at 633-7513 or e-mail the Volunteer Services Director at Bev.catalano@crmcwy.org. We would love to hear from you and mail an application packet out to you. All volunteers must pass a background check and drug screen prior to attending a required orientation session and any additional required in-services.
