Cheyenne Regional Volunteers honored for more than 50,000 hours of serviceDuring the Cheyenne Regional Volunteers’ annual Pink Geranium service awards luncheon on May 3, approximately 30 volunteers will be honored for giving more than 50,000 hours of service to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center during their lifetimes. “Our volunteers are truly amazing,” said Bev Catalano, director of Cheyenne Regional Volunteers. “They give thousands of hours to our programs and patients every year and work tirelessly to raise funds to help our hospital, community and region.” Volunteers have donated nearly half a million hours of cumulative service since the hospital opened. The volunteers receiving service awards this year will be honored for donating from 500 to 13,000 hours each to Cheyenne Regional during their lifetimes. As part of the ceremony, Cheyenne Regional Volunteers will also present $143,700 to the hospital for its Davis Hospice Center, nursery, surgical area and Home Away from Home program and another $10,000 to Laramie County Community College for an endowed scholarship program to help students pursuing healthcare degrees and careers. Funds were raised from several volunteer projects, including the two gift shops at Cheyenne Regional, holiday gift wrapping at Frontier Mall, the Laramie County Health & Wellness Expo, the Home Away from Home program and holiday pecan sales. About $3,700 was raised by selling Precious Moments figurines given to the gift shops in memory of a loved one. Proceeds from the figurines will be donated to the Davis Hospice Center. Hospital volunteers have hosted the luncheon since the early 1960s. Cheyenne Regional Medical Center is a 218-bed premier regional healthcare system that prides itself on delivering the highest standard of quality care to meet the region’s growing healthcare needs. The hospital’s physicians and employees, state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technologies ensure patients will receive exceptional care close to home. |
