October 24, 2007 Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Foundation Announces Honorary Chairs for 2008 Denim ’N Diamonds Campaign CHEYENNE – William R. “Bill” Dubois, III, and Marcella “Marcy” Helser are the Honorary Chairs for the 2008 Denim ’N Diamonds campaign, a major fundraising effort to benefit Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. The hospital Foundation’s Board of Directors made the announcement recently at an appreciation dinner held for major donors at the Hitching Post Inn. Dubois and Helser have been active in many civic and educational organizations and are longtime benefactors of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s Foundation. “Bill and Marcy have spent their lives serving and enhancing our community through their work as educators and their commitment to the arts, preserving our region’s history and furthering local healthcare efforts. We are honored to have them lead the Foundation’s Denim ’N Diamonds campaign for the coming year,” said Kathy Steil, the Foundation’s interim executive director. Dubois serves on the board of directors for Cheyenne Regional’s Foundation, the Cheyenne Depot Museum, Cheyenne Historic Preservation, Historic Governor’s Mansion, Cheyenne Concert Association and American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming. He was founding chairman/director of the board that created the Old West Museum. Dubois was Man of the Year for the Chamber of Commerce, has received the Governor’s Arts Award and the E.A. Slack Community Service Award and has been inducted into the Cheyenne Frontier Days Hall of Fame. Dubois taught American and frontier history in Cheyenne schools for 37 years. He has authored or co-authored several books about the region’s history. Helser was a home economics and consumer science educator in Cheyenne schools for 37 years. She served as an officer with local and state educational organizations, ran the winter cheerleading program at East High for 14 years and was a sponsor of Future Homemakers of America. She has served as local and state president of the American Association of University Women and president of the Vocational Educators of Wyoming. She is currently president of the Cheyenne Women’s Civic League and chairperson of the W-Heels and is a state officer for Delta Kappa Gamma. She continues to judge projects for state sewing contests. The 2007 Denim ’N Diamonds Campaign surpassed previous records, netting more than $301,000. Proceeds from the 2007 event will be used to purchase digital mammography technology for Cheyenne Regional’s Cancer Center. Mammography remains the best method of early breast cancer detection. With digital mammography, image storage and transmission are less difficult because images can be stored and sent electronically. “Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and the Foundation extend our thanks to Kathy and Timothy Joannides for serving as our 2007 chairs. Their leadership and generosity were instrumental in helping us provide this new technology that will benefit our community for years to come,” said Steil. “With Bill and Marcy serving as the 2008 chairs, we anticipate another record-breaking year,” added Steil.
