The Future of Medical Imaging is Here CHEYENNE – Imagine your doctor having the ability to view your x-rays moments after having them taken, possibly saving your life. This is no longer unimaginable: Cheyenne Regional Medical Center (CRMC) recently completed the installation process of PACS (Picture Archival Communication System), an electronic image delivery system. PACS integrates radiographic imaging and patient information electronically throughout the hospital network and allows for electronic transfer of radiographic images (x-rays) and results through the Internet, eliminating the need to manually file, retrieve or transport x-ray films. Radiographic imaging and reports can be transferred from department to department, hospital to hospital, hospital to clinic and so on. PACS also allows multiple users to view images and information from different locations simultaneously. Images can be transferred to film or CD and sent to physicians or given to patients. Anticipated Impacts/Benefits:
CRMC’s Medical Imaging Department is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including an ultra-fast 16-slice CT scanner, a dual head nuclear medicine scanner, a 1.5 Tesla magnetic resonance scanner and an angiographic suite for interventional radiology. CRMC is continually upgrading and adding new technology to ensure our patients receive the highest quality of care and outstanding satisfaction. We will enhance the services we offer by providing ultrasound with 3D and 4D imagery, 40-slice CT scanner, Breast MRI and biopsies, CAD (Computer Aided Detection) image reading capability and CT Coronary angiography. -CRMC- |
