Local Hospice physician one of the few in the region to be board-certified in Hospice & Palliative Medicine CHEYENNE – Cheyenne Regional Medical Center’s Hospice Medical Director, Robert Monger, MD, was recently certified by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (ABHPM). Dr. Monger is one of the few in the region to receive this certification. “Becoming certified in hospice and palliative care demonstrates that Dr. Monger is committed to providing expert end-of-life care to patients and their families,” said Kathy Niles, Administrative Director of Outpatient Services. Cheyenne Regional’s Hospice department has been serving patients in the region for 12 years and opened its inpatient hospice facility, the Davis Hospice Center, in November 2006. “This certification reassures our commitment to providing exceptional patient care and offering confidence and kindness in the healing process. I feel very fortunate to have received this certification, and I look forward to helping better care for the patients in our region,” said Dr. Monger. Hospice and palliative care is a specialty which focuses on providing expert pain and symptom management and understanding the unique psychological and emotional needs of terminally ill individuals.
