About Wyoming Bariatrics - (307) 633-7619A partnership between Consultants in Surgery, P.C. and the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Wyoming Bariatrics was founded by Richard Fermelia, MD, Whitney Parnell, MD, and Take Pullos, MD in 2003. Wyoming Bariatrics is the first fully integrated multidisciplinary bariatric surgery program in the state. Our program components include extensive pre-operative education and work-ups, diet and nutrition, exercise physiology, psychology, medical specialists, dedicated bariatric surgical team and long term post-operative follow-up and support groups. Meet the SurgeonsDr. Richard Fermelia
Dr. Fermelia is presently the Chief of Surgery at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center in Cheyenne. He has developed a comprehensive bariatric surgery program for the treatment of clinically severe obesity -- "Wyoming Bariatrics". He has taken a special interest in Laparoscopic surgery and is presently the only surgeon in Laramie County who performs Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass. He was trained by Dr. Jefferson Vaughn of Jupiter Florida in Open Gastric Bypass. He received training in Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass from Dr. Stephen Scott and Dr. Roger De La Torre from St. Louis, MO. Drs. Scott and De La Torre have published numerous papers on the topic of bariatric surgery and are extremely well respected within the community having performed over 2000 weight loss procedures. He also has extensive experience in other advanced laparoscopic surgery including anti-reflux surgery (heartburn) and laparoscopic colon surgery. Dr. Fermelia has a fully developed practice for the management of breast diseases including breast cancer. He was the first physician and is the most experienced physician to offer this type of surgery in Laramie County. Dr. Whitney Parnell
